Preparing a Pampanga food tour
I drove around Pampanga with my lovely wife last weekend to fine-tune the route and make final arrangements for a tour in October.
As much as possible, I take time preparing for out-of-town tours because there might be things that could affect the course of the trip especially on the day itself. There will be factors (traffic, road construction, weather, etc.) beyond my control but at least, it comforts me that I have ample knowledge about the situation and manage it.
It also gives enough time to make changes to the itinerary to better suit the group’s preferences and coordinate with our hosts. This trip gave me a chance to structure information that I needed to say to the group and when to say it.

We left the house at 9:30 in the morning. It took us a couple of hours to reach our first stop, which is Guagua. A visit to my grandparents’ hometown was next in the itinerary and then we went to have a look at the Bacolor church. Aimee loved taking photos in that place.
We dropped by Mexico for lunch with Atching Lillian. After going around Angeles City, we had the decadent morkon of Everybody’s Café for dinner :-)

The drive back home was stressful. Buses clogged EDSA especially in Cubao! It took us longer than expected to return. I got really tired after this road trip but I’m happy as well. This visit was an opportunity to satisfy our cravings.
The booty? We took home some lechon, chicharon, and achara from Guagua; saniculas cookies from Mexico; sansrival from Sta. Rita; and leftover morkon from San Fernando. It felt like I just did a food tour for my wife and I!
